History

299Ko gets its name from the original CMS, 99ko, one of the very first PHP content management systems not requiring a database to save content.

99ko was authored by Jon, with the first version of the CMS dating back to 2010. The author released several versions, each bringing its share of innovations, always keeping the spirit of lightness and ease of use for the user, sometimes aided by external contributors whose names remain displayed in the source code of 299Ko:

 * @author Jonathan Coulet <j.coulet@gmail.com>
 * @author Frédéric Kaplon <frederic.kaplon@me.com>
 * @author Florent Fortat <florent.fortat@maxgun.fr>

The last version of 99ko released, version 5.1, was published in July 2021. Max, the developer of 299Ko, had already contributed to the release of this latest version jointly with Jon.

Then, in the summer of 2022, the need to use 99ko but also to evolve it led to the creation of a sequel to this powerful little CMS, with the agreement of the historical developer: 299Ko.

A huge thanks to Jon without whom none of this would exist.
